Venus is looking forward to a year filled with new possibilities and performances. This winter we’ve been busy adding new repertoire–the “Cups” song, “Mexico,” “For Good” and “Will the Circle Be Unbroken” among others. We’re also polishing up our awesome arrangement of The Star Spangled Banner for baseball season! And we also held auditions and welcomed a new Venusian into our orbit–more on our new mezzo soprano in another blog post. Give us a shout if you want to book us for the spring — email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Our favoriate Venusians Robin (front and center) and Dolores (fuschia, third from right) recently celebrated birthdays. This photo is not recent, as you can tell from the holiday greenery, but who wants a current photo for their birthday? To celebrate, Venus sang for R&D’s awesome house party. We love house parties. Are you having one this spring or summer? Give us a shout…we’ll be there before you can say “canapé.” You can email us at venusdminor (at) gmail (dot) com. Or if this is an aca-emergency, call 301-651-3707.
Want to tell us something, or add your name to our mailing list for our next concert? Jot your info here. We promise not to spam you!

Well we sure had fun singing to a packed crowd at our favorite outdoor ampitheater in Virginia. We appreciate the invite from our friends The Tone Rangers. Next up, Venus sings the Star Spangled Banner on Monday, July 20th to open a college league Big Train baseball game at Cabin John Park in North Bethesda. Join us for another fun evening under the stars!

Venus d Minor would like to wish all our fans a Very Happy Valentine’s Day. We’d sing you a verse of My Funny Valentine if we could get our streets plowed, here in snowed in Washington DC and environs. Stay safe and eat some chocolate.
Ms. Minor is tickled pink that she was included on the January nominations list for Best A Cappella Group the Washington Area Music Association’s 28th annual awards, the WAMMYs. The list of other nominees is a great group to be included in, too (group jam session, anyone?). The WAMMYs are voted on by WAMA members, but you can give the girls a hand with your vote for Venus d Minor as your FAN FAVORITE–and you don’t have to be a member to do it! Click here for details and thanks for your support of the galaxy’s favorite women’s octet!
UPDATE 2/14: The WAMMY Fan Favorite voting is now closed. Thanks to all of our supporters–fingers crossed! here’s the fully list of WAMMY nominees this year.
Venus will feature arrangements old and new when we appear on Friday, January 24th at the Noon Concert Series at St. Alban’s Episcopal Church. 3001 Wisconsin Avenue, NW, Washington, D.C. 20016. Join us for a fun-filled program! CDs will also be available for purchase. Details and directions here.
Well, despite the threat of rain and some actual rain, we all had a fabulous time singing for the packed crowd at Lubber Run ampitheater this past weekend! Thanks again to The Tone Rangers for the invite. Here are a few pics, and we’ll load some more shortly
